BROADSIDES: 2 framed copies of "Poem Describing a Perfect School," taken from a previously unpublished manuscript by Whitman. Printed from original wood blocks on Chinese hand-made paper in edition of 100 copies. The broadside is a hand colored illustration by George Illian. Includes a recent print reproducing the broadside.
   
ENGRAVINGS: original 1860 engraving of Walt Whitman by S. A. Schoof. Trimmed to size, 5 1/8 x 7 7/8 with tissue guard, frontispiece. 3rd edition, Leaves of Grass.
   
PHOTOGRAPHS (keyed to Henry S. Saunders's Whitman Portraits):
   
  1) Saunders 36: framed original albumen photograph (3 copies) of Whitman by Frank Pearsall (1872). Used as frontispiece for Two Rivelets (1876). Includes two recent prints;
   
  2) Saunders 36: framed original double exposure of the above before trimming. Includes 2 recent prints.
   
  3) Saunders 44a: original wood-engraving of a portrait by W. J. Linton (1871) that was used in Memoranda During the War. Framed with a proof title page of the 1876 edition of Leaves of Grass. In addition, there are 3 recent prints, including 2 reproduced with the Pearsall photograph (see also Saunders 36) and 1 reproduced with the 1876 Leaves of Grass title page.
