Special Collections Maps Database

The majority of the maps in this database are from North Carolina - particularly Charlotte and Mecklenberg County. Many of them originated from the Charlotte (N.C.) Engineering Department. There are some historic maps from other areas of the country and the world. For assistance in using these maps, please come to the Dalton Rare Book and Manuscript Room.

    • Types of maps:
      • Historical - Includes all maps prior to 1945 are considered to be historical
      • Land use - Includes development, property, street, engineering, and assessment maps
      • Other - Includes aerial and topographic maps
    • Cartographer - includes designer, illustrator, engineer, or other person(s) who was/were "responsible" for creating the map
